A Show Bred Female

A Show Bred Female

Details of ASTER [CH. KADNOOK REMEMBER WHEN] and her career.

Jill selected ASTER out of her litter at 8 weeks of age. Right from the beginning she was a female of lovely Labrador Retriever type, truly feminine, some would say true type. During her short then brief show career she received some wonderful write ups from Internationally known breed judges.

ASTER’S critique from her first show and win of Best Baby Puppy in Show at the Lab. Ret. Club of Victoria Championship Show, May 2001, judged by Mrs. Rose-Marie Cabion  (Sth Africa) reads as follows: ‘Absolutely gorgeous puppy with wonderful balance, the loveliest of heads with melting dark eyes and black pigment, excellent bone and feet, super coat, moved beautifully, the only problem with her was that she was not mine’.

ASTER had won the required 100 show points to become an Australian Show Champion by nine months of age. As you could not claim the title until they won a challenge certificate after the dogs first birthday, Aster was shown until she won that challenge at thirteen months of age, and by that time she had won 168 championship points.

ASTER at nine (9) months.

Hips: 2.2 = 4   Elbows: 1.1

As with so many of the Kadnook show dogs, once they achieved their show title, they from then on only competed in the big shows, Royals, Breed Specialties, etc. Brought out of retirement in 2006, ASTER competed at the Lab Ret Club of Vic Championship Show and won Bitch CC, the Judge Mrs. Ewa Nielsen (Sweden), who said of her ‘” Compact, wonderful bitch, lovely outline, beautiful head, nice expression, well angulated, lovely body and coat, moves very well”.

Wayne trialled Aster in three Novice trials for a win, a third and a finish. Her win was under Bob Maver who awarded her a score of 194/195. When asked where she lost the one point, Bob replied, Wayne lost it by taking a delivery too quickly. That trial I remember well as it was three runs all through and across water due to the very wet conditions and it rained most of the day.

ASTER had two litters, one to CH. KADNOOK WILD AND FREE NRD that produce 8 yellow pups. From this litter Joe & Mary Law had the yellow female RT.CH. KADNOOK REMEMBER JAZZ.

Bob Tawton called into home one day and asked were we going to have a litter from ASTER anytime soon. Bob trained with Joe Law, and he raved to us how good this female pup Joe and Mary had from us [JAZZ} and he wanted a pup like her from Aster. Mind you Bob and Pam had already had MAC, CHASA, TANK and KING, all of them were in their own right, Grand Retrieving Trial Champions. ASTER’s second litter to KADNOOK DROPOV THE DOINS (Luke). Luke was a lovely black male, on the smaller side, very good breed type, loved to retrieve.

Aster and her ten Luke pups – note all three colours.

One of these yellow males was named KWIK.

Who became known as:

NTL & GR.RT CH. KADNOOK KWIK SAND CM.

Four of the other pups were sold overseas after Aster, who earlier had won a Breed Specialty Show under an Internationally known Labrador Retriever Breed Specialist judge

ASTER a few days after she won the LABRADOR RETRIEVER SPECIALTY SHOW.

Five of her daughters became Show Champions, with Jazz & Kwik becoming Working Champions.
