About Chops
Chops was in Jill’s last planned litter, unfortunately she never lived to see them
arrive.
Many people have asked how Chops got his pet name. In his litter there were four black males. I liked two of them, so I identified them by snipping a small area out of their coats on different parts of their bodies. The late John Stott said on seeing these chopped areas – ‘who chopped their coats?’, I owned up, and the pup I selected, what better name could you give him than CHOPS. No one forgets his name.
CHOPS: unfortunately he has never been given the chance to show his full talent by his owner/trainer/handler – YES that is me. For me Chops has all the required talent a good retriever should have. He may have even been equal to his mother.
Along the way Chops has competed in fifteen trials in total. NOVICE: 4 starts = 3 firsts and 1 third. RESTRICTED: 11 starts = 4 firsts, 4 seconds, 1 third, 1 finish and 1 DNF (my fault I stuffed up horribly). Chops is an excellent mark with an excellent memory, very strong in water and faces all types of cover without hesitation, and an easy dog to handle.
Around home he is a real smooger, loves his cuddles. Great at conning all visitors
for a pat and cuddle. A dog of near full breed height, Hips 2.2 = 4 and 1.0 Elbows. His Breed DNA Analysis Report reads: Full Clear/Normal/Negative for all Genetic Diseases & Traits. Chops carries both black and yellow in his DNA.
In working weight and condition, he sets the scales at 34 kilograms.
