About Rippa

I gave Rippa his registered name after studying how he behaved as a pup in his litter, always there nearby and watching me closely.

As a pup it was immediately noticeable, he was going to be a big, coated dog. When introduced to water at eight weeks of age he put himself in the water and was off swimming. At nine weeks of age, he was retrieving the puppy dummy from twenty metres out into the water.

Always calm, quiet, friendly, and totally co-operative he was a pleasure to have in the kennel as a youngster. These days he lives with family members in North-East Victoria with his own river to swim in at his back door, and he loves it.

A dog of full breed height, Hips 4.5 = 9 and 0.0 Elbows. His Breed DNA Analysis Report reads: Full Clear/Normal/Negative for all Genetic Diseases & Traits. In working weight and condition, he sets the scales at 35 kilograms.

Rippa is a natural in the field with a great work pattern, and the love of water tops off that of a good field dog.

Chops was in Jill’s last planned litter, unfortunately she never lived to see them
arrive.

Many people have asked how Chops got his pet name. In his litter there were four black males. I liked two of them, so I identified them by snipping a small area out of their coats on different parts of their bodies. The late John Stott said on seeing these chopped areas – ‘who chopped their coats?’, I owned up, and the pup I selected, what better name could you give him than CHOPS. No one forgets his name.
